No Sound or Missing Image
  1. CELLA audio files are mp3 and the player is initiated by HTML5 (not Java or JavaScript, which are very different). Try a basic mp3 audio check here. Note, this is only a partial test and may not reveal all potential issues. Ensure that a computer functions properly by assigning an actual test and trying it before using with students.
  2. If you are on a Windows computer, the Internet Explorer (IE) browser is preferred; if you have difficulty hearing the sound even after trying all of the solutions on this page (usually due to settings), use the Google Chrome browser instead.  Macs need to use the Safari browser and be running operating system 10.11 or higher.
  3. Ensure that plugins are enabled on your browser. Uninstall any browser plugin blockers, such as the ClickToPlugin Safari extension on the Mac. Disabling may not be sufficient; instead, completely uninstall and then quit and restart the browser.
  4. CELLA audio is designed to be listened to with head phones or earbuds. The sound will be much clearer using these.
  5. If your internet connection is slow (below 100 Kbps), a sound or image file may not load completely; even if your internet connection is usually fast, intense usage in another part of the same building could temporarily slow your connection. An image may appear to be "missing" or when you click on the audio button it may not play. Try refreshing or reloading the same page using your browser button (DO NOT use the back page button). This will most often fix the problem. If not, check with your local IT person for help.
  6. Browser cache will occasionally cause the audio to malfunction. Clearing browser cache and restarting the browser will often remedy browser cache issues. To learn how to clear your browser cache, go here
